Kaiser Permanente ending Saturday clinic hours

(Honolulu Star Advertiser) – By Kristin Consillio. Kaiser Permanente Hawaii is ending Saturday clinic hours, making it harder for those who work during the week to get care. The state’s largest health maintenance organization, with 245,000 members and 22 medical facilities, will eliminate Saturday hours at 13 clinics statewide beginning in March. The clinics have been open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Unite Here Local 5 files more labor discrimination charges against Aston Hotels

(Pacific Business News) – By Jason Ubay. Unite Here Local 5 has filed new labor and harassment charges with government agencies against Aston Hotels & Resorts on behalf of employees at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel, three months after the hotel company and the union settled previous labor charges.

No new contract agreed on between union and Kaiser Permanente

Talks between Kaiser Permanente Hawaii and Unite Here Local 5 union workers ended Thursday with no agreement on a new contract. “Kaiser rejected the workload proposal … we gave them at our last bargaining session on February 18, as well as the pension proposal we gave them last night,” said union spokeswoman Paola Rodelas.
