UNITE-HERE Local 5 Says Kaiser Hawaii Strike Is About Patient Care
(Labor Radio) – By Doug Cunningham. UNITE-HERE Local 5 members are striking Kaiser Permanente in Hawaii. The six day strike ends Saturday. The workers will leaflet to let people know about Kaiser decisions the workers say are negatively impacting patient care. Kaiser’s Hawaii workers say that Kaiser is making it difficult to properly care for patients, by cutting jobs and sub-contracting others. Kaiser thrives to the tune of $11 million a day, according to the workers. Local 5 represents 1900 Kaiser Permanente workers in Hawaii.
