Kaiser Strike: Day 5

Rally for healthcare justice

Rally for healthcare justice

We packed the streets of Waikiki at yesterday’s rally and made it loud & clear: Local 5 is here to stay!

Hotel workers, clergy, elected officials, members of other unions, and other community supporters joined us in solidarity with our fight to demand better treatment of workers and patients from Kaiser. We also had not-yet-union workers from the Aston Waikiki Beach and Hotel Renew join us and talk to us about their fight for union representation.

Neighbor island workers continued their strong presence at the picket lines, which included dancing to the electric slide in Maui Lani.

Kaiser finally responded, and we’re returning to the bargaining table on Feb. 18. We’re hopeful, but we will see if Kaiser is really ready to negotiate this time.

We’ll only grow stronger from this. Good job showing Kaiser that we will never be divided.
