Dozens of Local 5 members at Kaiser protest after company announced that up to 57 positions from its Patient Financial Services department will be outsourced to California.
At the Sheraton Kauai Resort, the workers filed a grievance because the company was serving frozen foods instead of hot meals during the pandemic. The company used this as an excuse to not bring back kitchen staff. The company agreed to bring back the cafeteria cook and buffet runner. The workers are now being served hot meals daily, and a buffet runner is serving the food to workers. #UnionAdvantage
Hyatt Regency Waikiki opened their restaurant without a server during the lunchtime shift, so the bartender had to do two jobs while a server was at home waiting to be called back to work. The union filed a grievance, and Hyatt brought back a lunchtime server shift! #UnionAdvantage
Josh, a houseman at Hyatt Centric filed a grievance with the help of the Union to address workload issues. As a result, the hotel agreed to bring back another houseman, Bryce. #UnionAdvantage
Engineering Department at Sheraton Maui demanded a Zoom meeting delegation to urge management to bring back more engineers. As a result, 5 engineers were brought back from furlough. Great job Sheraton Maui workers! #UnionAdvantage
